Basketball's Goldberg And Thorpe Named To NEWMAC All-Conference Team
BOSTON, Mass. - Emerson College saw two members of it's Men's Basketball Team Named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Team for the 2013-2014 season this week. Senior Jon Goldberg and Sophomore Michael Thorpe were both named to the First and Second Teams respectively.
On the year, Goldberg was a force for the Lions, leading EC in rebounding with 247 on the year, good for second overall in the NEWMAC. In addition, Goldberg also ranked 10th and 11th in the conference in field goal percentage and points per game as Emerson saw huge wins over #1 Amherst and #3 WPI on the year.
Sophomore guard Michael Thorpe was also honored by the NEWMAC as his 390 points led the Lions and was good for fourth in the conference in points per game with a 15.0 average. His 21 points against Amherst helped usurp the defending NCAA champions and snap a 27-game winning streak for the Lord Jeffs.
The honor is the first for both Goldberg and Thorpe.
