Men's Basketball Outlasted By Gordon To Wrap 2017

WENHAM, Mass. — Eric Demers led Gordon with a career-high 31 points in Gordon's 89-62 win over Emerson.

The Lions (6-5) started off the game with a 12-7 run for a five-point lead. The Fighting Scots (4-4) gained the lead with an 8-2 run in the next four minutes. They stretched the lead to 17 as they closed out the half with a 34-18 run to make it 49-32 at halftime.

Demers scored 18 points, grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists in the first half. Jake Haar scored nine points and knocked down three shots from outside the arc. Garrisson Duvivier scored six points, pulled in five rebounds, and recorded two steals.

For Emerson, junior Geoffrey Gray (Newton, Mass.) canned a team-best 21 points. 

Gordon extended the lead to 28 points with a 22-11 run in the first nine minutes of the second half. They outscored Emerson 40-30 in the half and shot 45.2 percent from the field.

Demers made a career-high 12 shots and also knocked down four three-pointers. Duvivier scored nine points and grabbed ten rebounds for the sixth time this season. Josh Crutchfield dished out a career-best six assists.

Emerson opens up the New Year at home on January 3 with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off against NEWMAC foe, Coast Guard.
