The Lead: The Emerson men's basketball team saw four Lions drop double figures in points, including junior Geoffery Gray(Newton, MA) had 22, senior Michael Sheng(Altadena, CA) had 13, senior John Geary(Duxbury, MA) added 12, while sophomore Jack O'Connor(Newport, RI) rounded it out with 10.



  • Gray notched a double double with 22 total points and 13 rebounds, while shooting 8-14 from the field. Gray added a team high four assists.  

  • Michael Sheng kept his neve by hitting all eight of the free throws he attempted.

  • The Coast Guard Academy was led by Noah Baldez, who totaled 24 points on 9-13 shooting from the field. Justin Kane followed him with 16 points.  

  • Emerson concluded the night converting on 46.0% (29-63) shots from the field. Coast guard finished 44.1% (30-68) from the field.

  • The Lions showed determination by shooting 82.6% (19-23) from the charity stripe.



  • The game opened up to a back and forth affair with Coast Guard jumping out to an early 8-7 lead.

  • Paced by Baldez and Kane, the Bears jumped out to a 25-19 lead over the Lions.

  • The Lions took the lead back 29-28 with 6:22 remaining in the first half on a Mac Sashin jump shot.

  • Coast Guard Academy snatched the lead back at 42-41 going into halftime.

  • Emerson took the lead back in the second half behind the sharpshooting of John Geary and Goeffery Gray.

  • Geary capitalized on offensive rebounds and converted his open three point shot to give the Lions a 55-52 lead.

  • Down the stretch, Michael Sheng converted all of his free throws (6-6) to ice the game for the Lions.

  • The Bears did not give up but were unable to overcome the seven-point deficit leading to an Emerson victory (86-79).



  • Emerson travels to Clark University (3-9, 0-1 NEWMAC) on Saturday, January 6th to take on the Cougars at 1:00pm.

  • Coast Guard Academy travels to Worcester, MA to take on MIT at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 6th. .
