Dan Gold Nets Five Goals As Men's Lacrosse Tops Daniel Webster

NASHUA, NH – A five goal outing from Dan Gold and a 12 save game from Donald Welch lit up the day for the Emerson Men's Lacrosse Team Saturday afternoon as they topped the Daniel Webster Eagles 8-5. The win moves the Lions to 1-7 on the year and 1-6 in the GNAC while the Eagles fall to 3-7 overall and 0-7 in conference play.

The first quarter saw the Eagles take out the talons first on the Lions as they pocketed a goal six minutes in before Dan Gold and Kyle Billings tagged teamed up for a goal and an assist apiece in the next six minutes to make it 2-1 Emerson after the first quarter. The Lions defense stepped up in the second to silence the Eagles in the second while Dan Gold added another to his tally as the teams headed into the half up 3-1.

Rolling into the third inning the Lions continued to send a full-on assault as Gold went for that exact color medal pocking two more out of the gates in the third inning with Peter Horgan and Matt Ulrich assisting in the attack to push EC up 5-1. DWC lashed back with a goal with 5:26 left in the third before Sam Massey closed out the quarter with an unassisted goal to lead Emerson into the fourth up 6-2.

The fourth started up with Dan Gold making it goal number five with Sam Massey setting him up to make it 7-2 before the Eagles went on a two goal run to cut the lead as Max Smith put a stop to it with Sam Massey assisting yet again for his second dime on the day to make it 8-4. The Eagles made one last push for a last minute goal but the effort fell short as the Lions closed out the win 8-5.

The Lions will return home this Wednesday as they set to host Becker in Boston at Rotch Field at 6 p.m.
