Fisk's Heroics Fall Short Against CMSV
BOSTON, Mass. – Even with Zoe Fisk amassing 27 saves on the night the Emerson Men's Lacrosse Team couldn't stave off the visiting College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins Wednesday night in a 17-6 loss. With the loss the Lions are now 1-3 on the year while CMSV moves to a perfect 3-0.
The final score wasn't represented in the first period of the game as the Lions held tough with the Dolphins, staying neck-in-neck in shots with nine to CMSV's 11 and six to their five saves. The Dolphins finally broke the stalemate with three minutes remaining as Germain Ngaba scored to make it 1-0 after one.
The Lions struggled in the second period though as mistakes piled up for EC with back-to-back goals for Adrian Go. Emerson's Eric Colleran broke through finally for the Lions to make it 4-1. The Dolphins went on a tear after though with four unanswered goals to head into the half up 8-1.
The Lions came back with vigor in the third though, as they held off CMSV for nearly 10 minutes before they broke through for three more goals in the period. Zoe Fisk put up a valiant eight more saves as the game headed into the final period with CMSV up 11-1.
The Emerson offense came alive early in the fourth with Nicholas Kitsos scoring in the first minute of play. The Dolphins fired back with two more of their own before EC saw Conor Judge and Jack Markwordt go back-to-back to make it 13-4. Two more goals remained for the Lions with Eric Colleran putting up another goal and Greg Auerbach closing out EC's offensive attack to close the game at 17-6.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Johnson & Wales next Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game against the Wildcats in Rhode Island.
