BOSTON - The Emerson Lions Men's Lacrosse team will open their season on Wednesday, February 28th, looking to improve on a 4-9 2017 campaign which saw the Lions go 0-7 in NEWMAC contests.  The Lions welcome the Mustangs of Mount Ida for a 4:00pm contest at Rotch Field on February 28th, before welcoming the Hornets of Lyndon St. on Saturday, March 3rd at 1:00pm.  

 

LET'S TAKE IT BACK TO 2017

  • The Lions opened their 2017 season going 4-2 in non-conference play before taking part in a NEWMAC contest.

  • The Lions saw their success come at Rotch Field, going 4-5 on their home turf and 0-4 on the road.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS

  • Since Head Coach Andrew Fink has taken over the team in 2004, the Mustangs have reached the quarterfinals of their conference tournament every year, garnering eight championships and four runner-up finishes.

  • 2017 was no different for the Mustangs, who finished second in the GNAC tournament.

  • The Mustangs enjoyed a 14-5 overall record and a 7-1 conference record.

  • Mount Ida was selected to finish fourth in the GNAC preseason poll for 2018.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS

  • The Lyndont St. Hornets enjoyed a 10-7 overall record in 2017 and a 5-2 conference record.  

  • The Hornets fell in the North Atlantic Conference Semifinal against eventual runner-up Castleton.

  • The Lions and Hornets competed in a back and forth affair in 2017, with the Hornets coming out on top 15-10.
