Magistro Perfect As Softball Dominates Anna Maria

BOSTON, Mass. – While Kelsey Tuthill and Alicia Daniele may have hit 1.000 on the day, the real highlight in the Emerson Softball's sweep of Anna Maria today was Alexandra Magistro's perfect game in her 10-0 (5) win. Alicia Daniele nearly completed back-to-back perfect games in the second game as the Lions topped Anna Maria 16-0 (5) to improve to 22-7 on the year and 16-2 in GNAC action.

Game one saw Alexandra Magistro take to the circle in front of a solid faithful at the Boston Common Friday afternoon whom she didn't disappoint as she allowed only 15 at bats for Anna Maria in her third career perfect game, completely baffling the AMCAT line-up.

The Lions put most of their hurting on the scoreboard  right off the bat in the first inning as they crushed 10 hits on the AMCATS tab to blast nine runs onto the non-existent Boston Common scoreboard with RBIs springing left and right from Kelsey Tuthill, Shannon Torosian, Alexandra Magistro, Bianca Buono and nearly the entire EC line-up as they tore through the line-up nearly twice in one inning alone.

While Magistro finished her masterpiece, the Lions tabbed another on the AMCATS in the third with an RBI single up the middle for Kelsey Tuthill as they closed out a quick 10-0 win.

Game two was a bit longer of a game, but only because the Lions straight tore themselves off the chain on offense as they crushed 13 hits on the AMCATS in the outing. Alicia Daniele took the ball and on top of nearly throwing a perfect game went 3-for-3 with five RBIs for Emerson.

A three run first gave the Lions a bit of a cushion with Alexandra Magistro finding herself not quite finished with being the highlight with a two-RBI in-the-park homerun getting added to her tab on the day in the first.

The Lions came out to straight maul the other am'Cats in the game in the second though as they put up 10 runs on five hits in the inning hitting around again for the second time on the day to tear open a 13-0 lead. Three more Emerson runs jumped on the board in the third as the Lions just couldn't be tamed with Daniele pitching a masterpiece that allowed but one AMCAT single, nearly allowing back-to-back perfect games for EC.

The Lions roar back into action tomorrow as they host Rivier in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
