Women’s Lacrosse Selected Sixth In NEWMAC Preseason Poll

BOSTON - The Emerson Women's Lacrosse team has been voted sixth in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.  Coaches from all nine programs in the conference casted their votes, landing the Lions at six.  The Babson Beavers topped the poll with six of nine first place votes.  Perennial national title contenders, the Springfield Pride, came in second with two first place votes and MIT came in third with one first place vote.  Wheaton and Wellesley College were tired for fourth, with Emerson following them at sixth.  Smith, Mount Holyoke, and Coast Guard rounded out the poll from placed seven through nine.

The Lions will look to improve on their 6-11 season from 2017 which saw them go 4-4 in NEWMAC play.  The Lions started out 0-4, recovering from the tough start to finish tied for the fourth best NEWMAC record with a trip to the quarterfinal round of the NEWMAC Tournament, where they were defeated by MIT. 

The Lions will start their season on Sunday, February 25th as they travel to take on the University of New England at 3:00 p.m., before returning to Rotch Field a week later  on Saturday, March 3 for their home opener against the Endicott Gulls at 4:00 p.m.
