Women's Volleyball Dominant in GNAC Quarterfinal Sweep of Mount Ida

BOSTON, Mass. – Alyssa Thorne's .467 attack percentage and 16 kills on the night, fueled the fire as the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team surged to a perfect sweep  of the Mount Ida Mustangs in the GNAC Quarterfinal round. With the 25-14, 25-11 and 25-13 win the Lions are now 17-10 on the year while Mount Ida falls to 12-17.

Set one saw the Lions come out a bit slow, but gathered speed throughout as they compiled a .324 attack percentage with Alyssa Thorne throwing down a .333 percentage for five kills. Jamie Morgan was straight nasty though as she picked up nine digs to keep the Mustangs at bay as EC cruised through the first set 25-14.

Set two saw the Lions kick into sixth gear on offense as they swung a ridiculous .500 in the set as Alyssa Thorne went off the chain again with five kills for a .714 attack percentage. Juliana Tucker quarterbacked the squad posting 10 assists in the set with some acrobatic sets as EC rolled to a 25-11 win.

Set three saw the Lions put it away with ease, swinging away to a .391 team average as Thorne continued to crush it, adding six more kills to her tally. The Lion defense also proved to be trouble for the Mustangs, as they were held to a -.038 team average as EC closed it out with a 25-13 win.

The Lions advance to the GNAC Semifinals now where they'll face the JWU Wildcats Friday night in Boston at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
