An early set 8-2 run for the Eagles helped open up a 14-6 lead in the opening set. The Lions would get within four in the late stages of the set, but the Eagles shut the door with four straight points, capped off by a Lions error, giving the first set to Roger Williams, 25-17.

In set two, five straight points for the Lions would give them the early momentum, 10-5. The Lions held control into the later stages, even opening up a six point edge. However, the Eagles finished the set winning 16 of 21 points, finished by a Field's ace, giving the Eagles the second set win, 25-19.

In set three, Roger Williams controlled the final set from the beginning, opening the third by winning nine of 10 points. The Eagles cruised through set three, trading points with the Lions, but never enough to let Emerson back in the set. A Lions attack error would be the final shot of the evening as the Eagles took the third set, 25-16.

The Lions split results in a 1-1 record after the first tri-match of the season. Roger Williams won a pair of games and start the season 2-0. The Lions prepare for two other members of the Roger Williams Invitational tomorrow as they face Framingham State at 1:00 p.m., followed by Keene State at 3:00 p.m. Framingham State played one match; a 3-0 loss to Roger Williams.
