Head Men's and Women's Cross-Country coach John Furey has been coaching cross country since 1986. John has been the Emerson Women's mentor since 1998 and took over the men's team as well at its inception in 2003. He has coached for Eastern Nazarene College and North Quincy High School before coming to Emerson, and is experienced coaching both elite and novice runners.
John has coached four Emerson women's teams to Great Northeast Athletic Conference titles, and led the men to a best-ever second place finish in the GNAC Championship in 2009. He has also served as coach for the American Stroke Association and Team Brigham Marathon team.
An avid runner himself, John has logged over 70,000 miles and run in over 600 races. His personal best times are 2:25.50 for a marathon, 30:40 for a 10K, 14:32 for a 5K, and a 4:08 mile.
John is currently a Senior Health/Fitness Specialist with FitCorp. In the December, 2005 issue of Men's Journal, John was named as one of the top 100 trainers in America. He holds a master's degree in exercise physiology from Bridgewater State College.

Brandon Fox has been a member of the Emerson Cross Country Program since the Fall of 2008. Brandon graduated with a Bachelors in Journalism from Emerson in 2011 and a Masters in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School in 2014.
Brandon is a Blackwood, NJ native and ran varsity cross country and track at Triton Regional. Brandon ran a 4:44 1600m, 10:19 3200m and, a 17:02 5K (XC) prior to joining Emerson in Fall 2008. Brandon's personal best in the 8K is 27:19 and he was a GNAC All-Conference runner in 2009. As a collegiate athlete, Brandon helped coach high school runners at St. Joe's Hawk Harrier Running Camp in Maryland from 2009-2011.
