Athlete of the Year

On behalf of Emerson Athletics, Meredith Weber, a senior midfielder on the Women’s Lacrosse team, has been named the 2017 Female Athlete of the Year.

She also recevied 1st Team NEWMAC All-Conf and IWLCA 2nd Team All-Region honors.

A four-year member of the lacrosse team, Weber has competed and started in all 62 contests of her career. A stellar senior season ranked her within the top 10 of eight NEWMAC categories as well. She sat in first in goals (63), draw controls (99), shots (124), free position goals (27), shots on goal (94); tied for second with 40 caused turnovers and ground balls (56) and racked up 73 overall points to place her third. Weber also holds the Emerson record in draw controls and caused turnovers and ranks second all-time in goals, points and ground balls.

On the national circuit, Weber ranks fifth within Division III with 333 career draw control wins.

Meredith has also nabbed numerous accolades as a Lion, including the coveted NEWMAC Rookie of the Year award during her freshman season. Weber also earned a spot on first-team NEWMAC All-Conference in her junior and senior years, as well as the All-Region team as a junior and was named Offensive Player of the Week this past season for the week of April 4.
