On Saturday January 23rd the Emerson College Men's/Women's Cross Country and Baseball teams spent the day at the Cradles to Crayons "Giving Factory" in Brighton MA. The two teams sorted through children's clothing that included winter hats/coats, boots, t-shirts, pants, and pajamas to put together packages of essential items for children up to 12 years old.
Over the course of the day, the Emerson teams helped sort clothing for over 200 families. Cradles to Crayons helps more than 305,000 Massachusetts children 12 years old and younger live in low-income or poverty-stricken households.
According to their website, in any given year, more than 100,000 Massachusetts children will experience homelessness.
The Emerson College athletic department family wanted to help out where they could, and the Cross Country and Baseball team's got the ball rolling in 2016 with their community service events.
