Weekly Preview: Men's Lacrosse Meets Dean In Friday Night Lights Contest

BOSTON - The Emerson men's lacrosse team hits the turf for a tilt under the lights on Friday night and welcomes the Bulldogs of Dean College to Rotch Field for a 7:00 p.m. non conference slate, which will mark the first meeting between the two teams. 

 

A LOOK BACK ON THE WEEK 

  • Emerson split time between Rotch and the road this past week and fell in both contests with its overall record slipping down to 3-2. 
  • On March 17, the Lions were handed a 12-3 setback on its home turf by the Wentworth Leopards before traveling to Nichols on Monday night where they suffered a 12-4 loss. 

 

EMERSON IN THE NEWMAC 

  • As a team, Emerson has found the back of the net 37 times through its first five contests with 27 assists on 33.6 shots a game, a 22.0 shot percentage and average 7.40 goals per game. 
  • On the offense end, Emerson has both juniors Jared Brush (Detroit, Mich.) and Cameron Radenberg (Los Angeles, Calif.) representing in the top-5 of goals, assists, point and shots. 
  • Brush leads the way and sits in the top of three offensive categories with 14 goals (T-5th), 17 points (T-7th) and 44 total shots (4th), while Radenberg has racked up a NEWMAC leading 11 assists. 
  • Sophomore Austin DiPietro continues to power the Emerson defensive attack, winning a NEWMAC third best 62-of-88 in the X and scooping 42 ground balls (1st), while freshman Tim Doyle (San Diego, Calif.) takes the 7th spot with 21 ground ball pick ups. 
  • Junior Bailey Kennedy (Swampscott, Mass.) represents Emerson among NEWMAC net minders with a fourth best 49 saves. 

 

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS 

  • Dean currently posts an overall record of 4-1 through its first four contests with its most recent W coming on March 18, using an explosive fourth quarter to run past Husson, 10-8. 
  • The Bulldogs were selected first in the NECC Men's Lacrosse Preseason Poll after a 9-6 2017 season under the helm of first year head coach, Matt Schairer. 
  • Colin Hinrichs and Anthony Trasacco have both found the back of the net 10+ times through five games with Hinrichs' 15 goals and Trasacco's 14. 
  • Along with his 14 goals, Trasacco paces the team with a total of 22 points and 39 shots, while Brody Fredericks has been credited with 11 assists. 
  • James Lovely leads Dean's defense with 12 ground ball picks ups and Westley Reel has caused seven turnovers. 
  • In the X, Juniel Jordan has taken the W in 27 of 26 face-offs while Korey Gendreau follows with 13 wins on 27 attempts in the face-off circle. 
  • Madison Olsen mans the Bulldogs' net and has registered a 3-1 record within five starts, allowing 39 goals for a 9.15 goals against average to go along with a 56.2% save percentage on 50 saves through 255+ minutes.
