The Emerson Men's Tennis team grabbed a victory over a nonconference opponent Lesely on Tuesday, taking eight of the nine matchups. The Lions started off in a back and forth affair in first doubles. The next two pairings of Thomas McCorkle (Mathews, N.C.) and Bernardo Garza (Monterrey, Mexico), Dylan Freedman and Shawn Lee, took their matches respectively 8-3, 8-6.
In singles, the Lions took five of six matchups. Headlined by Daniel Okin and Brock Higley who each won their matched handedly. Okin won 6-1, 6-0 while Higley won 6-2, 6-0. Shawn Lee (Newport Coast, Calif.) took his first ever collegiate victory in singles and doubles on Tueday. Head Coach Aaron Bergeron stated he was "really impressed with the way Shawn fought back in his singles match. Shawn has come a very long way from joining the team in the spring. Shawn is a soccer player and tennis is not his natural sport, but I am very happy to see the hard work paying off for him." Shawn won his pro match 9-7.
Up next, the Lions will take on the Engineers of MIT in a NEWMAC matchup on Wednesday, April 18th.
