The Emerson College Men's Tennis Team defeated its Boston Common counterpart on Friday, downing the Suffolk Rams 7-2. The Lions jumped ahead in the doubles matches, taking all three. Bass Lin and Dan Okin defeated Mike DeFelice and Rami Eswari, 8-2. Maximo Lawlor and Brock Higley defeated Chris Parnagian and Ben Bricker by the same score. Jeff Pratt and Surya Sundararajan defeated Charles Tang and David Gruijic in a sweep, 8-0.
In the singles matches, Lin defeated DeFelice 6-3,6-2, while Lawlor defeated Parnagian 6-0,6-1. Winning the top two singles matches paired with the doubles sweep gave Emerson the victory. Their third and fourth singles also won. Okie defeated Eswari in the third pairing 6-1, 6-3. Higley rallied after losing the first set 3-6 to defeat Davis Almonte 6-4, 10-4 and give Emerson its seventh win of the day.
The Lions get back in action on Sunday, taking on Franklin Pierce at Winchester Indoor Tennis Courts in Woburn, Mass., starting at 9:30am.
