Men’s Tennis Takes Down Johnson & Wales In Final Match Of Fall

The Emerson Men's Tennis Team rallied in the singles matches to take down the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales (R.I.) 5-4. 

In the doubles matches, the Lions dropped two of three.  Emerson won the first double pairing though Bass Lin (Shanghai, China) and Maximo Lawlor (Litchfield Park, Ariz.), who defeated Franz Foncu and Alex Rohana 8-6.  Max Chalik (Davie, Fla.) and Alexander Laugier Naim (Dubai, UAE) fell to Luke Nickerson and Gianna Rodriguez 8-6.  Steven Neizler and Will Lyons defeated Keaton Watlington (Center, Tex.) and Eric DiIorio (Andover, Mass.) 8-1, with the Wildcats taking a 2-1 lead into the singles matches.

In the top singles matchup, Lin defeated Nickerson 6-1, 6-1.  Lawlor defeated Fonca 6-0, 6-1 in his singles match.  In the third singles matchup, Chalik and Neizler weren't to a third set after both players each won one of the first two sets 6-3.  Chalik came out victorious, winning the third and final set 7-6.  Naim was able to win his matchup 7-5 in both sets against Rohana, giving the Lions their fifth win and winning their fifth match.  Watlington and Bernardo Garza (Monterrey, Mexico) dropped their singles matches but the Lions came out victorious 5-4.
