Five Lions Named to NEWMAC All-Academic Cross Country Teams

BOSTON - Lions junior Ethan Michaud was named to the Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team while senior Cristina Ashbaugh, junior Jessica Mann, and sophomores Jeanette Mooney and Allison Playdon were named to the Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team as announced by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Office on Thursday

Honorees must meet the following criteria to be named to the All-Academic Team: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2017 spring semester, achieved second-year academic status at his institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

A total of 29 runners made the 2017 All-Academic Squad from seven different NEWMAC schools on the men's side. The women's group consisted of 69 total runners from all 11 schools in the NEWMAC.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
