GAME ONE: Emerson 4, Clark 0

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

IN THE BOX

  • Junior Kallista Leonardos (El Granada, Calif.) and sophomore Marisa DeFranco (Falls Church, Va.) each paced the Emerson bats in a 2-for-3 day as Leonardos collected a home run, one RBI and plated three runs and DeFranco had a pair of singles with one RBI.
  • Jessica Urella and West had the two hits against Eddleston and each finished 1-for-3 on the day for WPI.

ON THE MOUND

  • Eddleston picked up her 13th win in a complete game shutout, her fourth of the season, where she surrendered a pair of hits to go with one walk and seven strikeouts.
  • Foley surrendered four runs on seven hits through a seven inning outing and struck out two batters while she walked six.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Neither team crossed a run through the opening two frames until Emerson brought in the game's first pair of runs in the top of the third.
  • Senior Jillian Gearin (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) barreled a two-bagger into the left center gap to drive in the first Emerson run before junior Alena Jones (Woodinsville, Wash.) drew a bases loaded walk.
  • Eddleston continued to blank the Clark bats and thus allowed Emerson to give her even more run support within the sixth and seventh innings.
  • After DeFranco batted the third Emerson run in on a single into left, Leonardos launched her fourth homer of the season over the fence and sealed the Lions' 4-0 win.

GAME TWO: Clark 6, Emerson 0

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

IN THE BOX

  • Three Lions collected one hit, including Gearin, Leonardos and freshman Lindsey Lowe (Porter Ranch, Calif.).
  • Emily Vincent powered the Clark bats in a 3-for-3 day with two singles, double, one run and an RBI, while Taylor Erickson drove in three runs and Urella plated two runs.

ON THE MOUND

  • DeFranco lasted five innings on the mound and allowed six runs (two earned) to cross on ten hits while she struck out one.
  • West blanked Emerson through seven innings on three hits and four walks and struck out five.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After taking the 1-0 lead to start off the first behind Vincent's double, Clark put together a four-run fourth frame to push its lead to 5-0.
  • Clark began the fourth with its second run being driven in on a grounder to the shortstop before Erickson batted DeFranco's pitch into the left center gap to drive in a pair with the lead at 4-0.
  • Kelsey Joyce wrapped Clark's scoring in the fourth and followed Erickson with an RBI double of her own to give the hosts a five run lead.
  • The Cougars iced the 6-0 win in the home half of the sixth thanks on Erickson's third hit of the day making its way into right center.
