Weekly Preview: Women's Soccer Carries Win Streak Into Start of NEWMAC Play

BOSTON, Mass.
- Coming off a quiet week, the Emerson women's soccer team enters the completion of its three game home stand starting with a non conference matchup against Thomas (Me.) on Tuesday night before beginning NEWMAC play on Saturday versus Mount Holyoke. 


A LOOK BACK 

  • Overall record now sits at 4-1 
  • Emerson picked up its fourth win of the season in their second straight victory after blanking Wentworth, 3-0, in their lone game of the week on September 10
  • The freshmen went to work with Marie Bou Aziz's (Miami, Fla.) two goals in addition to classmate Cali Bruce's (Glen Allen, Va.) first collegiate goal


LIONS IN THE NEWMAC 


FRESHMEN REIGN SUPREME
 

  • Within the first five games of the 2019 season, the freshmen class has outscored the upperclassmen, 6-2, with Bou Aziz leading the pack with three goals
  • Following Bou Aziz in the goals column are Sage Stack (Santa Rosa, Calif.), Ainslee MacQuarrie (Kensington, N.H.) and Bruce rounding out the group


BRUCE NAMED LION OF THE WEEK

  • In the 47th minute with Emerson up 1-0 over Wentworth, Bruce booted in her first collegiate goal to push the Lions' lead to 2-0 in a game where the hosts took the 3-0 win over the Leopards last Tuesday night.

  • 2019 Record: 0-4-1 / 0-0-1 NAC - drew 1-1 double overtime tie in conference opener at SUNY Canton on Saturday afternoon
