Women’s Volleyball Upended By Wheaton (Mass.)


Score: Wheaton (Mass.) 3, Emerson 0

Records: Emerson Lions (12-5, 5-3 NEWMAC) ;  Wheaton Lyons (13-8, 4-2 NEWMAC)

The Lead: Despite 10 Kills and digs from Carolyn Vaimoso, the Emerson Lions Women's Volleyball Team fell to the Wheaton (Mass.) Lyons 3-0 on Tuesday night. 



Carolyn Vaimoso: 10 Kills, 10 Digs, 2 Blocks
Caroline Bond: 24 Assists, 11 Digs, 4 Blocks
Lauren Quan: 10 Digs

Wheaton (Mass.) 

Julia Palomba: 13 Kills, 8 Digs, 2 Blocks
Becca Houghton: 31 Assists, 5 Kills, 8 Digs
Adara Hamilton: 20 Digs, 6 Kills, 4 Service Aces


  • The first set saw both teams score points back and forth.  Throughout the whole set, no team had more than a four-point lead.  The Lions fell behind at 17-21, before rattling off five straight points to take a 22-21 lead, headlined by three straight Vaimoso kills.  Emerson took their lead to 23-22, but Wheaton was able to take three straight points to take the set 25-23.
  • In the second set, the teams traded points to start the set, ending up at 11 apiece after 22 points.  Wheaton went on an 8-0 run after the score was tied at eleven to take a commanding 19-11 lead.  The Lions fought back bur were unable to overcome the deficit falling 25-16 in the second set.
  • In the third set, the Wheaton and Emerson once again traded points to start the set.  Wheaton was able to go on a 7-1 run to take a 16-8 lead. The Lions fought back, this time cutting the lead to two points at 20-18.  Emerson was just unable to complete the comeback int he set, falling 25-20 and losing the match 3-0.


  • Emerson gets back in action on Saturday when they travel out of conference to take on the Wentworth Leopards at 10:00am.
